
There’s a scrapbook on the main menu that recounts the events of past games, but it’s light on specifics and feels more like a refresher course than a vital tool for newcomers to catch up on previous hijinks. Return to Monkey Island is a game for the series’ fans.

The Building 71 Incident is not like your typical horror adventure game. Also, there are no objectives to be met during your gameplay as the story is the main focus of The Building 71 Incident. There are plenty of interactable objects in it, but they are meant more as tools to be used to push the narrative forward. Now, given that it's an exploration game, don't go into it expecting some kind of action-oriented gameplay.
It relies on its clever narration and environmental storytelling to provide a tense situation with an ever-growing sense of dread as you move from one location to the next. Take this journey to relive and re-experience what exactly went on in the building as you conducted your investigation. Footage from his recordings resurfaced, though, and has been released to the public. The unknown employee was eventually declared missing by the police.
One unnamed employee decides to investigate these events and record them all on his VHS recorder. However, despite the closure, there have been numerous reports of suspicious activity going on inside it. One of its buildings, called "building 71", was forced to close down due to an alleged gas leak.
The Building 71 Incident is set between 1997-1998 at a university in the south of Brazil.
